Over the past year, many companies have been forced to take public positions on racial injustice to address offensive comments from their employees, racially insensitive products, and public policy efforts that seem at odds with a company’s ‘diversity and inclusion’ programs. This all points to a new reality where companies need to take a holistic view of racial equality and its intersections with business. What is less clear is whether companies understand their role in this challenging space. There are strategies beyond the workplace that companies can use to help shape a more equal society, which include reconsidering government affairs and lobbying efforts, product and service development, procurement practices, and community engagement approaches. Join this candid conversation, which will feature business leaders who have taken meaningful action against hate, bigotry, and discrimination within their companies and in the communities they serve. This session will also take a critical look inward at the urgent need to increase diversity and racial justice awareness within our own sustainable business community.
